How to get to Tulum?

Organising your life can be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be. With the right tools, it can be a breeze! Here are five apps to revolutionise your organisation: Notion, Slack, Trello, Notion Calendar, and Notability. As a researcher, teacher, and project manager, I use these digital organisation tools so much that they are literally an extension of my brain (sometimes combined with a personal assistant, hello AI)!

Why using organisation apps?

I use organisation apps to keep track of projects, tasks, documents, and notes, collaborate with others, and stay on top of deadlines — both in my personal and professional lives. Using digital tools for organisation has helped me reducing the space I need and has optimised the way I use them because of digital functions such as text search, in-app integration, and collaboration. With growing automation and the rise of AI, it also becomes increasingly easy to delegate some of workload to my laptop, tablet, or phone. It helps saving time and being productive, so that you can focus on the important things.

Using digital organisation tools can make organisation not only easier and super functional, but also fun and creative! I love using Notability on my tablet to annotate documents, sketch graphs, or draw in my free time, and Trello has been fantastic to collaborate on visual projects with teammates. Notion has completely changed my life: it has helped me put all my ideas in one space and I can effortlessly navigate between various projects at different stages of development and in different areas of my life without loosing track of my progress.

Overall, these apps have helped me stay organised, productive, and creative — even when traveling or on the go. This brings me closer to my objectives and helps me sustain a growth mindset.

The best organisation apps in 2024:

  • Notion is an all-in-one workspace that allows you to create a workspace for each task, project, or goal. It’s a great way to keep track of tasks, documents, and notes, and to collaborate with others.
  • Slack is a real-time messaging platform that makes it easy to communicate with your team. With its powerful integrations, you can quickly share files, search your conversations, and receive notifications when important tasks or conversations are happening.
  • Trello is a project management tool that helps you keep track of tasks, notes, deadlines and more. With its user-friendly interface, you can easily move tasks around, assign tasks to team members, and keep track of progress.
  • Calendar is a must-have for organisation, whether you use the app offered by Apple, Google, or Notion. I colour-code mine depending on the type of activity, which makes it so much easier to see your schedule at one glance.
  • Notability is a powerful note-taking app that lets you take notes, draw, and record audio. It’s a great way to keep track of ideas, research, and lectures. With its cloud sync, you can access your notes from anywhere.

Notion: a life-changing digital dashboard for your notes, projects, and databases.

Slack: a chat tool to boost team communication and organisation.

Trello: visual dashboard to facilitate creative project management.

Notion Calendar: A virtual agenda with useful integrations and visual cues.

Notability: a digital notebook, particularly great for scribbling and annotating on tablets.
