The best beaches in Mykonos with unparalleled turquoise waters

Mykonos is famous for its parties, exclusive resorts, and upscale beach clubs. Nonetheless, those who remain enthusiastic about secluded creeks will not be disappointed on a trip to the “Island of Winds”. These three spots are the best beaches in Mykonos: they have the most beautiful turquoise waters, promising aesthetic photography, mermaid vibes, and tropical landscapes. Grab a towel and some water, we’re going creek hunting!

1. Kapari Beach

Kapari Beach is located on the West point of the island, close to the village of Ornos. To access this hidden gem, you will have to go to the end of a dirt road and step down makeshift stairs made of rocks and plant. It is frequented by young tourists and locals, many of them playing beach tennis.

Surrounded by hills, it is nicely isolated from winds, thus a perfect choice for a windy day in Mykonos. There is no food or drinks accessible from this location, so it is a good idea to pack water and snacks. There is also no shade, so do take a hat or an umbrella with you if you can!

Kapari Beach is a perfect spot to watch the sunset because of its Western position. Idyllic sunset views guaranteed.

Afterwards, I highly recommend that you stop by the neighbouring town of Ornos and have lunch/dinner at Greek Tavern To Apomero for a delicious mixed grill of fresh fish and seafood. You can also take a meal to go and savour it on the beach!

PS: Every hour or so, a big ferry will pass nearby Kapari Beach and cause a short series of big waves on the shore… taking everything left behind. Not so inconvenient, as long as you know to expect it. My advice: (1) sit down facing the sea, (2) keep your belongings in a bag that you can swiftly grab, and (3) if going in the water, place your belongings at the back of the beach on an elevated spot.

2. Lovers’ Beach

Lovers’ Beach is a small creek located right off of Agios Sostis, in the North of the island. You can access it stepping down a few stairs from Kiki’s Tavern, a must-visit food spot on the island.

It is relatively quiet, and mainly visited by clients from the restaurant just above. The view from up there is idyllic, with a small church, wild flowers, and friendly cats completing the romantic scenery.

The water is absolutely pristine and very quiet. It’s perfect for a romantic stop before or after lunch at Kiki’s. The beach has some shadow from around 16:00 onwards.

3. Elia’s Nudist Beach

This hidden creek is located between Elia Beach and Agrari Beach, on the South coast of Mykonos. To access it, you must walk up the rock from either of the neighbouring beaches, where food and drinks are available. The bay has some of the most beautiful colours we have seen in Mykonos.

Elia’s Nudist Beach is a gay-friendly, no-swimsuit beach, so prepare yourself for surprising views! The nature and rock formations around it is particularly beautiful, therefore worth a visit even if you don’t feel like dropping your clothes just yet.

Best for an adventurous afternoon or photoshoot with turquoise views!
